To ensure maximum slope side thrills, breath taking mountain views and fresh powder runs there are certain steps that should be taken when planning a ski vacation. If you follow these easy steps, you should be shredding up the mountain in no time:
Step ONE: Find out what your budget is. If you have money to fly, then any ski resort in the world is up for grabs. However if driving is more your style, you'll want to plan a ski vacation depending on how far away resorts are from you. Write out what you can spend on lodging, lift tickets, dining, nightlife and extra activities.
Step TWO: Find out who is going. Is it a girl’s trip? Guys' trip? Family ski vacation? Are there kids and if so how old are they? You want to make sure you plan on activities for the kids’ as well and not just fun for the adults.
Step THREE: Choose your resort. Once you know your budget for your ski vacation and how many people are joining you, you have to see what everyone in your party enjoys doing. If you have non-skiers or boarders, you'll want to choose a resort that has other off mountain activities like, snowmobiling, tubing, ice-skating, shopping, and spas. For the skiers and boarders in your group, find out what type of rider they are, beginner intermediate or expert. Also find out what type of trails they prefer, groomed, powder, tree riding or parks. Knowing this information can narrow down your ski resorts to a perfect match.
Step FOUR: Time to book your resort. Many resorts have great ski and stay deals encompassing lodging, lift tickets and even sometimes rentals or lessons. This is a fantastic way to save a lot of money. When booking your hotel always call to see if they have any deals not advertised online. If you have a large family with children, book a hotel close to or on the slopes for convenience, or if you prefer a bed and breakfast within walking distance book your stay there.
Step FIVE: Print out all confirmation tickets, have your ID, insurance card, cash, or credit card all in the same accessible spot so when it's time to leave you can just grab it and go.
Step SIX: Print out the ski trip check list and get packing. If you are renting, you will not have to plan for bulky skis or boards and if you are traveling with your own equipment make sure you have the proper cases for air planes or the proper rack storage while driving. Pack your luggage based upon the checklist to ensure no forgotten items. Remember that during your ski vacation you will not always be on the slopes and casual wear is also needed for dining or nighttime activities.
Step SEVEN: Enjoy. Your ski vacation is planned and all you have to do is have fun, whether that means flying down the slopes, relaxing at the spa, or both. Take in some amazing views, spend quality time with family or friends and make memories that will last a lifetime.
