How’s it
going everybody? Hope you’re all having as great a start to the month of April
as we are here in South Lake Tahoe, California. Not many places will have a
late March storm, with temperatures in the high 20’s, that dumps snow for ten
days, and then goes right into 50 to 60 degree days for awesome spring skiing,
but Lake Tahoe got it this season! Not more than a week ago we were in the
middle of a huge pow storm, and now we’re gettin our tans on! Its beautiful up
here right now, and all that recent snow just ensures us an amazing spring
skiing season! So make sure to get up to Lake Tahoe this month to work not only
on your perfect turn, but your perfect tan as well! And of course, get your
perfect ski rental delivery service with us here at Ski Butlers South Lake
Tahoe! (p.s. raccoon eyes are HOT
right now!)
Well, here’s a little teaser of
some of the activities on mountain that are available for those of you brave
enough to get in the best spring skiing possible, here in South Lake Tahoe:
Heavenly:
This is going to be a fun spring
at Heavenly. They’ve got all kinds of scheduled activities to accentuate your
fun in the sun, all of which can be viewed on their Activities and Events calendar
found at skiheavenly.com. Starting on the 9th of April is the
Gunbarrel 25! This is an advanced skier event, where the objective is to lap the
double black diamond Gunbarrel run
twenty five times between 10am and 4pm. There are also on mountain Scavenger
Hunts April 11th through the 13th, a beach party at the
East Peak Lodge on the 14th, the Ski Patrol Concert and Fundraiser
at the parking garage by the gondola, and my favorite spring event, POND
SKIMMING! The 17th and the 23rd of April there will be
POND SKIMMING across “lake Heavenly” near the top of the gondola. Come have fun
in the slush and sun!
Sierra:
Sierra at Tahoe is spicing up
their spring season with the Billabong Flaunt-It Girl’s Finals on the 9th
of April. Come watch some of the best local chicks rip it up, both slopestyle
and on the Rail Jam! Slopestyle is from 10:30a to 1p, and the Rail Jam is from
2p till 3p. Sierra also has their Terrain Park Take Over Tuesdays each Tuesday this
month, where you can find out about their park situation on their facebook
page. On the 10th of April is their 4th annual Maui Jim
Salsa Showdown. It will be held at the Baja Grill/Corona Cantina and will be a
homemade salsa competition where the winner will receive a free 2011-2012
Season Pass. Make it out to Sierra for food and fun this spring, and check
their activities calendar at SierraAtTahoe.com for all the other events they’re
offering.
Kirkwood:
The wood, as many locals know it,
is definitely keeping a busy schedule for those of you smart enough to make it
out there this month. The weekend of the 9th and 10th is
their Spring Jamming annual event. Featuring their Head-2-Head, their Banked
Slalom, and their Pond Skimming events, this fun weekend also has an Ice Bar,
Demo days, and live music all weekend long! There are training days, and
programs, as well as many other activities offered, all to be found on their
