Greetings from Telluride, Colorado.
We’ve had a wonderful early season this 2012. A healthy early snowfall got the
season off to an exciting start, and this last storm blessed us here with an
excess of two feet of fresh snow. As I learned the hard way, better get to the
lifts early on a powder day. Telluride is like a dog kennel for the powder
hound inside us all, albeit slightly more refined. And when the snow falls, so
do the responsibilities of the locals. It’s a grand exclusion of almost
everything that is not waist deep powder and face shots the whole way down. A
race to first tracks. Otherwise, the lifestyle adhered to in town and emulated
in the Mountain Village can only be regarded as tranquil. Every individual,
whether you’re a long time local or a first time visitor, is tied by a bond: an
appreciation for yesterday, a complacency with the present, and an excitement
for the future.
Telluride is an exciting place to
be. The addition of a brand new restaurant, Bon Vivant, sits at the top of Polar
Queen Express (Lift 5) and is a perfect addition to the already wonderful
spread of après-ski locations around the mountain, in the village, and back
down in town. A packed list of concerts, shows, and events for the winter
season is sure to keep your schedules packed and your spirits high. And the
snow...let me rephrase, Ahhh, the snow. We’ve been dancing for and have been
rewarded with ample precipitation. A solid foundation is sure to keep the full
boundaries of the mountain open and accessible. Any additional snow we receive
will be embraced with open arms, open mouths, and open hearts. And, of course,
the same welcoming embrace will be extended to our guests. Watching people
having a blast doing the things we enjoy doing every day is a magical feeling:
sharing a wealth of warmth, happiness, and embrace.
See you
soon.
