Colorado in a Weekend: What are the Must-Sees?

Colorado is a beautiful state with mountains, roaring rivers, enormous canyons and emerald green fields often blanketed with snow in the winter. It’s a state that offers several attractions for the family that you can take part in over the course of a weekend. From outdoor activities like hiking and skiing to museums, there is something for everyone to love!

Pikes Peak

This is an area that offers a wide range of activities you could keep doing over the course of the entire year! There are hiking trails where you can often see some of the wildlife that live in the area, and picnic areas where you can enjoy a light meal with your family. Areas of the landscape are rugged, giving you a view of the beautiful mountains that make up Colorado, while the lakes offer a reflection of the sun and sky.

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

If you enjoy animals or you have children, then the zoo is a great place to stop and visit. You can easily spend a day here, enjoying the numerous exhibits for animals that include bears, tigers, elephants, and giraffes. There are areas where you can see some of the animals as they are fed, and you can participate in giving the giraffes a few leaves at scheduled times of the day.

Vail Ski Resort

From cabins with fireplaces, to ski lessons from professional instructors, Vail is known for the many slopes and activities that are offered in the winter. Get sturdy equipment delivered right to the slope with Ski Butlers snowboard rental and ski services. If you don’t want to try your hand at standing on sticks while going down the trails, consider snow tubing. There are small shops where you can find souvenirs for the holiday season, as well as items that reflect the state of Colorado. Couples will find that this is a romantic destination as there are packages available for some of the cabins that include a dinner for two and a hot tub.

Water World

If the summer season is more your speed, then visit Water World, a fun theme park with many kinds of slides and pools for the entire family. There is a large lazy river, a splash area for younger children, and a wave pool that makes you feel like you are in the ocean with large waves that crash over you on a routine basis.

No matter when you visit Colorado, there is always something to find that can be enjoyed by the whole family. Take someone special on a ski adventure in Vail, or view animals at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. There is a wide range of things that will keep you busy over a weekend when you make the trek to Colorado, or if you live in the state and want to explore a new area.
