Giving Back

As you may have read in Our Values blog, one of our five core values is Give: give back to our local communities.” You may have noticed that we have a feature in our checkout process that allows customers to donate an amount of their choice towards giving back to the local communities we live and operate in. The one main area we have chosen to focus our giving has been climate change. When it comes to climate change, we don’t just talk the talk. On top of prioritizing donations to go towards climate change organizations, we operate out of a HQ in Park City that runs on solar panels, and we are proud to have the only electric vehicle in the ski rental delivery industry.

One of our partners we support in the fight against climate change is none other than Protect Our Winters, or POW. Protect Our Winters was founded by professional snowboarder Jeremy Jones and its organization’s mission is to mobilize the outdoor sports community against Climate Change.” POW was kind enough to include members of the Ski Butlers HQ to their latest event in Park City, Utah this past August.

Hosted by local company and fellow POW supporter Skullcandy, attendees included members from outdoor organizations including ski resorts like Alta Ski Area, Snowbird, and Woodward, as well as our equipment partner, Rossignol. During this discussion-based event, Ski Butlers team members Jake Hardy and Nikki Bongaerts were able to catch up with all of these outdoor industry leaders, professional athletes turned activists like Sierra Quitiquit, and members of Congress. Each attendee was given the floor for up to 5 minutes to discuss how climate change has affected them personally, as well as how it has affected their business. Ski Butlers team members discussed the company goal of being net-zero by 2020, as well as the obvious ways our business would be directly impacted by less consistent snowfall if steps are not taken to combat climate change.
