Telluride Local Guide

Telluride’s remote location, combined with its breathtaking scenery, help to make it one of the most desirable locations to ski in North America. Huge vertical drops and quiet lift lines draw those with the desire to tackle its diverse terrain.  With over 2,000 acres of skiing that is divided somewhat equally between beginner, intermediate, advanced and expert, there is something for everyone.

From the top of the mountain, you can ski into Mountain Village or back down into town. Either way, you can hop on the Gondola and get back to wherever you started.  Steep tree runs, big groomers, hikeable chutes, on-mountain dining that puts other resorts to shame, it truly is a one-of-a-kind place. Those of you who have been there already know that what really sets Telluride apart is the incredible views. Looking to enjoy more than skiing? Lucky for you, the town of Telluride offers tons of off-hill activities. We have gone ahead and listed some of our favorites for you below!

Off-Hill Activities:

Horseback & Sleigh Rides:

This could possibly be one of the memories from Telluride you hold most dearly. Riding through aspen forests and alpine meadows, backed up with unbelievable mountainscapes, it is nature at its finest. Check out Roudy’s Horseback Adventures or Telluride Sleighs and Wagons to make memories that will last a lifetime.

Art Classes:

The Ah Haa School for the Arts offers a variety of classes for children and adults.

Snowmobiling:

Extensive networks of groomed trails just outside of Telluride and Mountain Village create a snowmobile paradise. Half day and full day adventures are offered by several local outfitters. It is a unique and amazing way to experience Telluride and its surrounding beauty. Check out Telluride Outfitters or Telluride Outside.

Restaurants:

As can be said with most resort towns, you really can’t go wrong with any restaurant in Telluride. Here are a few of our favorites.

Brown Dog Pizza:

This is the go-to place for many families when visiting Telluride. Award winning pizza, multiple big screen TVs, and a great local atmosphere make it a must stop on your vacation.

New Sheridan Bar:

Enjoy an après ski cocktail or a round of pool at the historic New Sheridan Bar. This bar remains almost unchanged to when it first opened in 1895. The handsomely carved front bar, with mahogany wall paneling, and spectacular lead glass divider panels are among the original appointments.

Siam:

Thai cuisine owes much influence to the Indian and Chinese cultures and the fresh herbs and spices of garlic, coriander, lemongrass, mint and fresh Thai peppers. At Siam, they prepare dishes from recipes handed down over centuries to create fresh, flavorful and healthy Thai food.

Pescado:

Pescado is Telluride's only full sushi bar with traditional Japanese dishes to ones with a modern twist. From simple yellow tail & scallion maki roll to the Pescado original Green Dragon.

With its legendary runs, incredible views, and world-class cuisine, you can't go wrong when booking a trip to Telluride.
