Core Value #7 — Make a Difference in the Community

Ski Butlers understands the importance of community involvement. That is why it is mentioned in our Mission Statement, and Core Values. It is a requirement to make a difference in the community while working at Ski Butlers. 

Below are four ways Ski Butlers gives back to the communities that have given us so much. 

Volunteering: Each team member is required to volunteer once a month in the community to be eligible for their monthly customer service bonus. Team members have the option to volunteer at numerous events or organizations that have been pre-approved by the GM. During 2012, Ski Butlers team members donated over 600 hours of community service time to 60 + non-profits and/​or community events. 

Round-Up Program: We have started a new program called Round-Up, to raise money for local non-profits. Customers are given the option to ​“round-up their bill” to the nearest dollar or donate a flat amount of $5, $10, or $20.

Local Giving Day: Ski Butlers has partnered with Live PC, Give PC and Colorado Gives Day (Vail Valley) to help promote their community day of giving (the 2012 Live PC, Give PC in Park City raised $600,000+; the Vail Valley for the Colorado Gives Day raised $350,000+). Ski Butlers has brought this idea to other communities to initiate a local day of giving in the 2013 year. It is our goal to take this program to all 10 Ski Butlers communities in the next few years. 

Ski Butlers Fund: The Ski Butlers fund was started to help research Osteosarcoma Cancer. Ski Butlers’ very first team member, John Rust, passed away from Osteosarcoma cancer three years ago. His biggest complaint was that there wasn’t enough research dedicated to this particular cancer. So, we pledge to make a difference — and we have. Ski Butlers donates $2000 to Osteosarcoma cancer research each year on behalf of the Ski Butlers location with the highest customer service score.

The Ski Butlers fund is helping in more ways than just cancer. We donate to local non-profits, especially those focused on environmental issues, youth sports, and assisting with local disasters. This past summer, we donated money to the Red Cross for the Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming wildfires.
