Go BIG, Welcome 2017 In Telluride This Year!

There’s nothing quite like celebrating the clock striking midnight on January 1 as the snow falls gently on a sleepy little town, high in the San Juan Mountains.

The show starts at 6:30 PM with a fabulous torch-lit parade across the ski resort led by the intrepid Telluride Ski Patrollers. An annual favorite, this event is perfect to bring the kids outside for some New Year’s Fun! Not long after the patrollers make their way to the base, an impressive fireworks display will steal the spotlight as revellers watch every color of the rainbow burst high above the gondola station. It is truly a sight to behold.

Once the kids have gone to bed, things heat up! This year, Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears will take to the stage at the Sheridan Opera House while many other bars in town will host live music, specials and New Years’ parties. As the clocks nears midnight, you may find something strange occur — a rush to the doors. It is a time-honored tradition in Telluride to take to the town’s main street and usher in the new year with all of your friends, old & new (and lots of noise!)!

Round out the holiday with FREE samples of Sweetwater and Telluride Brewing Company beer at the on-slope Gorranos ranch on Sunday, Jan. 1 — sometimes the only way to get back on the hill is by the hair of the dog!

Whether you’re staying out for the music and raucous Telluride night-life or turning in after the torches and fireworks, New Years in Telluride is sure to be one that you’ll never forget!
