With a historic, record-breaking amount of snowfall in the month of October, Breckenridge will open for top to bottom skiing on Friday, November 8th.

Breckenridge has 48 fresh inches of snow, so get your Epic Pass out of the kitchen drawer and get ready to ski the highest quality, early season terrain in over a decade.

WHERE TO SKI

With 2,908 skiable acres, 155 total runs, and so much fresh snow, there is a place for every type of skier at Breck. Breckenridge has a variety of peaks that are numbered to correspond with skier ability levels. For example, Peak 10 and Peak 8 are recommended as experts only terrain, while Peak 6 can provide a great, full day experience for a more casual, intermediate skier. With 34 lifts, one being the highest lift in North America, as well as plenty of beginner terrain down low, there is truly no type of terrain out of reach for Breck guests.

WHAT TO DO AFTER SKIING

As mentioned in our Breckenridge Local Guide this summer, Breckenridge offers a number of activities in additon to skiing. The ice rink may not be ready by opening day, but the Recreation Center costs only $10 for a full day pass and has everything from an indoor climbing wall to a full gym and hot tub, making this a family friendly place. Looking for more of a thrill? Head to the Summit Stage bus or drive over to the Frisco Tubing Hill where they have lift access tubing.

If your legs are exhausted from your first ski runs of the season, be sure to head to town for more relaxed apres opportunities. Main Street has a bustling local restaurant scene, and our employees love to head to Angel’s Hollow Mexican restaurant for delicious food, and possibly the best margarita in town. Want a more formal meal? Not a problem. We suggest making a reservation at The Hearthstone, where incredible views of the resort provide a backdrop to the locally inspired menu. If you’re on a family ski trip but want to get the kids a sitter, you can channel your inner child by heading to Downstairs at Eric’s, where you can have baskets full of the best wings in town, as well as endless entertainment from arcade games and laser tag. Of course, if you are truly looking to live like a local at least once on your trip, you can also head over to Rocky Mountain Underground (RMU) right on Main Street, which is a ski shop, bike shop, and bar all in one. Take it from us, they make incredible cocktails and have a low-key, local vibe that can’t be beat.

SKI VACATION CHECKLIST

So you’ve decided to take your Epic Pass to Breck for your first ski trip of the year this weekend, you have your lodging booked, and you’ve made reservations at your favorite restaurant on Main Street. Instead of leaving some crucial to-dos until the last minute, we recommend that you organize the following as far ahead as possible:

Ski & Snowboard Rentals!

  • What is better than top of the line ski or snowboard rentals? Rental delivery service! Be sure to call or reserve your ski rentals as far ahead of time as possible. The earlier you reserve, the more time we have to cater to any special requests. Getting to your hotel or AirBnB late at night? Reserve early so we can open up a special delivery window just for you. Is your heart set on being the first to rent our new 2020 Soul 7s? Reserve now and we can hook it up.

Safety First

  • Don’t forget to put on your helmet and goggles before you hop on that chairlift. If you don’t have your own, or don’t want to fly them out to Colorado with you, Ski Butlers has you covered with great Smith Optics products.

Ski Apparel

  • So you didn’t anticipate such epic, early season snowfall, but you’re ready to hit Breckenridge in just a few days. What will you wear? We recommend checking out our Backcountry store for last minute sales on some of the best gear you can get your hands on. Ski Butlers customers can get exclusive, free two-day shipping when they order from our link, allowing you to get everything in time for this weekend.

Warm Up Those Muscles

  • Ready to hit the slopes but panicking over how your body may handle the altitude and long days on the legs? While it’s best to start a fitness program at least 6 weeks before your trip, we have a handy fitness guide written by Olympian and trainer Hannah Kearney that will be sure to get you ready for skiing, even if you do it last minute.
