Customer Service & The Golden Rule

There are thousands of studies and articles highlighting what it takes to provide great customer service. But what’s interesting to me based on all of my expereinces and all the advice I’ve read and listened to, when it comes to delivering great customer service, your thought processes needs to boil down to just one priciple: be a decent human being. 

Or to paraphrase several philosophers, treat your customers as you want to be treated when you’re a customer.

With technology, automated systems, and AI continuing to increase throughout all avenues of business we still find that a personal connection through speaking, emailing, or face-to-face time with an actual representative while feeling heard, valued and important can trump peoples decisions when it comes to purchasing a product or service. 

Don’t get me wrong, we certainly have great tech in place to help support our customer service efforts but we don’t overlook the importance of a friendly voice, a smile, and overall being kind and helpful to others.
