Snowmass Dining

Aspen/Snowmass

The dining scene in Snowmass was by no means getting stale but a couple new options never hurts. Over the summer a couple new restaurants came in and a couple got an upgrade. No matter where you go in Snowmass you really can’t go wrong but here’s some beta on a few new options, an upgraded one and an old favorite. Whether they are on mountain, in the base village or the mall you can access via skiing. So grab your Snowmass Ski Rentals and pull in for Lunch or Apres.
  • Slow Groovin’ -http://www.slowgroovinbbq.com — To get Slow Groovin’ BBQ in the past meant you had to drive out to Marble, which from Snowmass is about an hour drive. Once you got there you would have easily driven 2. Well, now you can practically ski right to it. Located above the Mall in Snowmass, Slow Groovin’ took over the former Turk’s spot. Bringing their award winning BBQ to Snowmass means we all benefit. Live music almost every day, a great atmosphere fit for the Apres skier to families. They have a Nacho plate that is bigger than a toddler. Piled high with brisket and pulled pork. It’s amazing.
  • Gwyns — http://www.gwynshighalpine.com — A staple on-mountain at Snowmass, Gwyn’s got a facelift. Well more than just a facelift. The old Gwyn’s was stripped to the studs and completely re-done. With a beautiful new bar up top complete with a large fire place to warm up. The food is still as great as always and there is more room for everyone. There is also bathrooms on the first floor (if you were ever in the old one you realize why this is a big deal.)
  • Sake — http://sakesnowmass.com — Opening in the former space of Bia Hoi, Sake offers a similar fare, Pan Asian, Sushi and an extensive Sake Bar. It is a great atmosphere, steps from the Gondola and Ski Storage. So if you are coming right off the slopes you can check your Snowmass Ski Rentals with storage and grab a roll and sake. They also offer take out which provides a great alternative to the usual Pizza Delivery.
  • New Belgium Ranger Station — http://www.rangerstation.org — I just love this place, it’s right at the end of the Snowmass Mall, steps from the slopes. Leave your Ski Rentals in the racks and pop your head inside to this cozy pub. Yes, they are a New Belgium bar” but families don’t get dismayed. This is a favorite place of my 5 year olds. We often will ski all morning and swing into the Ranger Station for some Pretzel Bites, a Hot Dog, a big mug of Hot Chocolate (with cookie dough on the bottom) and a cold Beer for Dad. A huge selection of New Belgiums great beers and a quick and easy food menu for all. They also do breakfast now.
