What your favorite skiers (and Ski Butlers) are up to

A look back at the 2019 – 20 season

While 2019 – 20 didn’t have any Olympic Winter Games or World Championships, the U.S. Ski Team had lots of personal bests!

On the U.S. Freestyle Team, Jaelin Kauf and Hannah Soar claimed second and third at the dual moguls World Cup in Thaiwoo, China in December. 20-year-old Hannah had her first career podium there, and she qualified for every World Cup finals round, except for one this season. By the end, she was ranked fifth in the world. Jaelin finished the season ranked third overall, with four more World Cup wins. Tess Johnson finished the season ranked 10th in the world, meaning three American women finished in the top 10 – making them the top women’s moguls team in the world. The Aerials team has been training at Utah Olympic Park since November. Megan Nick landed her new double full full, earning second place and her first World Cup podium.

Ski Butlers also had a championship year! We are so grateful for all our customers around the world – we hope you found joy on the mountain this past season. We can’t wait to see you all this winter!

Off-season training

Right now, The U.S. Ski Team athletes are training from home until it is safe to come back together as a group. The U.S. Ski Team Instagram has been doing athlete takeovers” where teammates give a behind-the-scenes look at what they’ve been up to. Eventually, though, the group will get together for training at the Utah Olympic Park.

As for the big-mountain skiers, they’ve been challenging each other on social media to show the world some of their craziest crashes under the hashtag #CrashChallenge. Some of them are posted to Instagram stories, but some are static posts, like this one on Jesper Tjäders page.

Check out what some of the other big-mountain skiers are up to while staying safe at home. It’s funny to see them doing things other than ski – like Ingrid Backstrom sewing masks with her daughter, Tatum Monod baking bread, and even Lynsey Dyer chopping wood.

While you might not be training for the Olympics like they are, we have put together some workouts to help you stay in shape and avoid noodle legs once you’re back on the mountain this winter.

Preparing for Winter 2020 – 21

Here at Ski Butlers, we’re already planning for the 2020/2021 ski season, and we can’t wait! We’re currently working on ways to keep our customers and our team members safe next winter and beyond. We’re also currently looking at investments that will mean an even better experience for our customers, so stay tuned to find out more about those. We have been picking up equipment at our locations as it becomes safe to do so. Learn more about how we audit our inventory and keep our skis tuned and waxed for safe storage.

In the meantime, we have been helping the COVID-19 efforts with employee job assistance, donations, and of course our partnership with BreatheEasy Utah. They’re a local company here in Salt Lake City that has redirected their apparel production to create fabric masks. You can even buy your own customized Ski Butlers face mask!

Our employees are out there safely enjoying the mountains with some ski touring, mountain biking, hiking, fishing, and golfing. We hope you have been able to get outside and do the same. For the days when you are stuck at home, here’s a list of the best ski movies, books, and podcasts to keep you entertained.

See you in a few months!
