Growing up on the East Coast, I learned to ski on mountains that West Coasters would consider hills. When a friend of mine invited me to go out to Park City with her, I had so many questions: What do I pack? How do I rent skis and boots? What else should we do out there?
Thankfully, I knew where to find the answer to all my questions – Ski Butlers! Here’s how they helped make my trip a whole lot easier.
What to pack
I wasn’t sure what to pack for a full day on the mountain. Ski Butlers has an equipment guide with a ski gear checklist, so I could make sure I had everything I needed.
I learned that layers are incredibly important! The weather changes throughout the day, so you want to be able to shed layers or add them on as needed. I found myself taking off and putting on my ski mask at least 5 times every day. Our trip was in February and the temps were averaging in the 20s… I’m thinking March might be a better idea next year.
Ski Butlers also has a great resource on how to save time & money on your next trip. It helped me save on travel and lift tickets.
How to rent skis
Making a reservation with Ski Butlers was wildly easy. I filled out what type of gear I wanted, what hotel I was staying at, and what date and time I would like everything dropped off. For my drop-off time, I chose the 7:30 – 8:30 AM block.
I was very impressed by how prompt they were; I received a call at 7:29 AM that my Ski Butler, Cedric, was 5 minutes away and would meet me in the hotel lobby.
Once he arrived, he helped me try on the ski boots to make sure they were the right size and fit for me. It was quick and easy, so I was on the slopes by the time the lifts opened for the day.
After three days of skiing, my friend and I decided to spend our last day exploring Park City and Salt Lake City’s downtown areas. I called Ski Butlers to ask if they could pick up my equipment early, and they were at my hotel within 20 minutes. They even went to the hotel’s ski valet and picked up my skis for me, making it that much easier.
Where else to explore
Since I had never been to Utah, I wasn’t sure where to go other than the mountain. Thankfully, Ski Butlers has great resources and local guides to both Park City and Salt Lake City. No matter where you’re planning to travel for your next ski trip, Ski Butlers has you covered with insider tips. Want more suggestions? Ask the Ski Butler that drops off your gear for some of their favorite local spots!
